They provide passive hearing protection of 20 dBA, active amplification of silent noises up to 19 dBA, and active protection in only 5 milliseconds for noises exceeding 82 dBA. They effectively suppress dangerously loud sounds (e.g. gunshots) while amplifying those barely audible.
The protectors are made of lightweight plastic. The cut-outs on the cups allow for comfortable use with helmet or other headgear. Flexible headband adjusts to the shape of the head. Comfortable cushions tightly wrap the ears, and provide comfort even with long use.
Each bowl has a microphone, an amplifier, a volume control and a speaker - this allows you to adjust the volume level on each of the headphones independently. The headphones are powered by two AAA batteries placed in each bowl. The 3.5 mm minijack port allows you to connect an external audio device, for example a walkie-talkie.
