Chicom Chest Rig Helikon Coyote tactical vest KK-CCR-CD-11

TheChicom Chest Rig from Helikon-Tex is a simple and functional chest rig whose roots date back to the mid-20th century, and which has become one of the icons of the Vietnam War period. It's a lightweight platform that offers a convenient way to carry essential equipment. It is ideal for operations in confined spaces, such as urban areas or CQB situations, where mobility is limited and quick access is crucial. This makes it perfect for tactical exercises and shooting training, and, when expanded with additional elements, also for patrols and reconnaissance tasks.

Chicom - a classic design identified with the chest rig

The Chicom vest is distinguished by its distinctive design with beveled sides and three pockets equipped with flaps with Velcro closures. If necessary, these flaps can be easily detached and replaced with the included pullers. The chest rig's pockets are designed to accommodate AK/AR type magazines. However, this is just the basic version, which can be expanded as desired.

Chest Rig with rich expansion possibilities

Both outside and inside the side panels, there are MOLLE/PALS webbing where additional pouches or pockets can be attached, providing flexibility and adaptability. There is also an option to increase capacity from three to five ammunition slots if needed. Additionally, a first aid kit or small pocket can be attached under the chest rig. Inside the Chicoma you will find a flat pocket trimmed with soft Velcro, ideal for documents or VIS-compatible inserts.

Chinese invention appreciated in the west - Chicom Chest Rig

Chicom, a name derived from a combination of 'China' and 'Communist', indicates its origin in the People's Republic of China. In the 1940s, the Chinese army introduced a new way of wearing equipment, which involved sewing pockets from a tarp and hanging them at chest level with harnesses, instead of the traditional belt. This simple design proved economical and comfortable for soldiers. In the following years, various versions of chest rigs of this type were created, adapted to changing ammunition, weapons and needs. Special variants were created for PPS-type submachine guns, carbines such as the SKS and the famous AK-47, among others.

The Chicom style gained popularity when American forces during the Vietnam War began to acquire enemy ordnance. As a result, this type of chest rig found its way into the equipment of units such as the SOG and Navy SEALs, after which it spread among users from different parts of the world. After 2000, Chicom-type chest rigs gained popularity again, due to the US Army's involvement in the conflict in Afghanistan.
