Spyderco - Karahawk™ G-10 Black Plain Edge Knife - C170GP
Karahawk G-10 Black Plain - a highly advanced folding knife Spyderco. Appeared as showed how the traditional karambit knives originating from Southeast Asia have evolved. Hawkbill blade, Emerson Opener hook, Tip-Up clip.
Karambit knife type, which was born in Indonesia, roots reaching Malaysia and the Philippines - documented its use as early as the XI century. It is characterized by an inverted handle with a hole for the index finger. The rounded shape of the blade is characterized by great cutting efficiency - the blade imitates the way the tiger's claw is broken - piercing and cutting. Used as a working knife, martial arts knife and a knife for defense, if necessary.
Emerson Opener (Emerson Wave) - the Karambit has on the back of the blade a hook that allows you to quickly open the blade while removing the knife from the trouser pocket by hooking the hook against the edge of the pocket (Ernest Emerson patented).
Blade - Hawkbill profile, 2.5 mm thickness, with an aggressive shape. Made of Japanese stainless tool steel VG-10 (high resistance to abrasion and mechanical damage), it is characterized by a good hold of the focus). The blade is hardened in the range of 59-61 HRC. Smooth blade (Plain type) are made with a high flat cut (Saber Grind) for efficient cutting of the cutting surface and ultra thin tip. The SpyderHole round cut-out (Spyderco patent) allows you to open the knife with your thumb. Reinforced blade lock (Back-Lock) blade with additional protection against accidental release of the lock during a strong knife grip (notch in the blockade) of David Boye's project.
Handle - covered with non-slip textured pads made of G-10 (durable, resistant to high and low temperatures, chemicals). The knife is equipped with a solid metal clip, which is screwed with three torx screws, that allows to carry the knife in the tip-up position (tip top). The end of the handle is finished with a rounded polished ring-shaped head that allows traditional techniques to be cut with a knife - it facilitates quick rotation of the knife around the finger located in the head opening. Inside the ring reinforcing insert made of G-10.
